The word of the year for the Northern Illinois Huskies was "transition."

The university announced their intent to depart the MAC in July 2026 before the start of the season, and then after a 3-9 campaign, watched as long-time head coach Thomas Hammock walked away late in the offseason for an NFL coaching job.

The roster also saw a lot of transition in the form of the transfer portal and elevation of older players.

Despite the adversity, there were still a decent amount of senior leadership which saw good performances in 2025. They assembled at the Chessick Practice Center on March 12th to work out in front of pro scouts, with 13 players– including 2024 long snapper Issac Hatfield– participating.

For our reports, we’ve pulled raw numbers from both Draft Scout and RAS.football to populate RAS score cards. These cards are used with express written permission of RAS’ creator Kent Lee Platte.

PK Andrew Glass

Elevator Pitch:

Glass was a five-year starter at placekicker for two MAC teams, and once led the conference in scoring as a true freshman at Kent State. Known more for accuracy than power. Glass finished 66-of-89 (74 percent) on field goals and 122-of-124 on extra points, with a long kick of 50 yards. In final year at NIU, made 11-of-14 field goals. Also handled primary kickoff duties for both Kent State and Northern Illinois. Only participated in game drills at Pro Day.

DT Alvin Gulley Jr.

Elevator Pitch:

Gulley provided size in the middle of NIU's line after a prolific career at Yale. In his four years at Yale, Gulley Jr. totaled 121 tackles, four sacks, 17 tackles-for-loss, and an incredible 18 pass breakups. The pass breakups are even more shocking considering Gulley stands at five-foot-eleven. He was twice an Honorable Mention all-Ivy League honoree. In his lone year at NIU, Gulley recorded 15 tackles and a half-sack. Did not participate in speed drills at Pro Days.

Harrison broke up six passes, intercepted another one, and recorded 30 tackles in his lone year for the Huskies. Before coming to DeKalb, he intercepted four passes and broke up ten at D-II Shepherd. Harrison has solid ball skills despite his speed being a concern.

SAF Muhammed Jammeh

Elevator Pitch:

Like others on this list, Jammeh waited until his senior year to get his big opportunity. Jammeh was a reliable presence in the Huskie secondary, making 60 tackles and intercepting a pair of passes. Over his career, accumulated 124 tackles and intercepted four passes. Jammeh should get a look on special teams, where he had plenty of experience at NIU.

Murray had an impressive body of work at his previous stops at D-II Notre Dame College (prior to their shutdown) and FCS team Tennessee-Martin before arriving at Northern Illinois. Murray had 90 career tackles, 22.5 tackles for loss, and 10 sacks in his career. Murray, who was expected to be in the mix for the defensive end job at NIU in the spring, was declared ineligible for play by the NCAA prior to the start of the season.

Despite only playing eight games, Ty Miles had the best season of his career, notching 30 of his 46 career tackles and breaking up a pass. He figures to be a special teams contributor if given the opportunity at the next level. Did not participate in speed drills at Pro Days.

OT/TE Izuchukwu Ozoh

Elevator Pitch:

Ozho spent his first three seasons at tight end before switching to offensive line in 2024, appearing in all 13 games and collecting two starts. He started the first six games of 2025 at right tackle before moving back to tight end to close his career. Ozoh is an experience edge blocker on field goals and could sneak his way on a roster that way. Ozoh also provides value as a blocking tight end and could become a project if a team is willing to develop him at fullback or improve his pass catching ability as a serviceable blocking tight end.

Draft Projections:

  • Lower-league tryout

Measurables (as of Pro Day)

  • Height: six-foot-four
  • Weight: 288 lbs.
  • Arms: 33 and one-quarter inches

  • Broad jump: nine feet, four inches
  • Bench: 21 reps at 225 lbs.

Relative Athletic Score (as offensive guard): 7.36

OG Aidan Tweedy

Elevator Pitch:

Tweedy brings experience and versatility to this draft process. Tweedy started eight games at guard and two at center in his only year at Northern Illinois. This came after Tweedy started 19 games at center and three at left tackle in his last three seasons at D-II Wayne State. This versatility alone could give Tweedy a shot at the next level.

Draft Projections:

  • Lower-league tryout

Measurables (as of Pro Day)

  • Height: six-foot-three
  • Weight: 300 lbs.
  • Arms: 32 and one-quarter inches

Relative Athletic Score: 4.83

LB Quinn Urwiler

Elevator Pitch:

Quinn Urwiler was the heart and soul of the NIU defense in 2025. Urwiler made 141 total tackles (fourth-most in NCAA) and earned second-team All-MAC honors in his only campaign as a starter. His five-foot-ten, 230 lb. frame is a concern, but Urwiler is an experienced special teamer and could easily catch on with a team as an undrafted free agent. His 36 reps on bench bodes especially well for the NFL's new kickoff, which favors winning one-on-one blocking matchups over pure speed. Urwiler performed well in the inaugural American Bowl.

Draft Projections:

  • Rookie mini-camp tryout/lower-league roster

Measurables (as of Pro Day)

  • Height: five-foot-ten
  • Weight: 230 lbs.
  • Arms: 3o and one-eighth inches

  • Three-cone drill: 6.86 seconds
  • Vertical jump: 33.5 inches
  • Broad jump: ten feet, one inch
  • Bench: 36 reps at 225 lbs.

Relative Athletic Score: 6.41

DT Jalonnie Williams

Elevator Pitch:

Williams was a stalwart on the Northern Illinois defensive line rotation over the last two seasons, starting 22 contests. Finished with 57 tackles, 5.5 TFLs, a pass break-up and a fumble recovery in that time. Was voted a team captain for the 2025 season. He figures to fit well in a 4-3 scheme at the next level.

Draft Projections:

  • Lower-league tryout

Measurables (as of Pro Day)

  • Height: six-foot-three
  • Weight: 299 lbs.
  • Arms: 33 and three-quarters inches

  • Vertical jump: 29 inches
  • Broad jump: eight feet, eight inches
  • Bench: N/A

Relative Athletic Score: 4.78

RB Chavon Wright

Elevator Pitch:

Wright transferred up to NIU after a four-year career at D-II Charleston, finishing his senior year with 875 yards and five touchdowns. Wright can handle a heavy workload, with games of 27, 30, and 37 carries in 2025. Although his 4.93 40-yard dash at his pro day is concerning, Wright has the instincts to durability to make it at the next level. Wright had one of the greatest careers for a running back at the Division II level, running for 4,926 yards in three seasons for the Golden Eagles. In 2024, he ran for an otherworldly 2,233 yards and 38 touchdowns. Anybody with a body of work like this deserves a chance at the next level, regardless of their 40 time.

Draft Projections:

  • Rookie mini-camp/Lower-league tryout

Measurables (as of Pro Day)

  • Height: five-foot-six
  • Weight: 202 lbs.
  • Arms: 29 and one-eighth inches
