Former Bowling Green guard Javontae Campbell to play in Summer League with Philadelphia 76ers
The 2026 MAC Defensive Player of the Year is set to begin his professional career as a Sixer.
Javontae Campbell, who spent the last two seasons with the Bowling Green Falcons after a JUCO stint with Northern Oklahoma, will start his professional journey as a Summer League participant with the Philadelphia 76ers, per his agency.
The 2026 MAC Defensive Player of the Year will join the Sixers after a 2025-26 campaign which saw him lead the NCAA in steals (97 overall, three per game) while averaging 18.7 points, 4.8 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game. In the 2025-26 campaign, Campbell shot 50 percent from the floor to lead the Falcons, and sunk 75 percent of his free throws.
Campbell finished all-MAC in both seasons with the Falcons, placing third-team in 2024-25 and first-team in 2025-26, while also placing on the NABC All-District Team this past year, becoming the first Falcon since Justin Turner (2020) to receive the honor.
Campbell leaves with the fifth-most steals in program history (187), and the top spot in single-season steals (97; 2025-26), breaking his own record from the prior season (90). He also sits 12th all-time in program history in average points per game (16.8) and eighth in career assists (163).

"He's put the work in for two years here and has earned every success along the way. We will be following him and are honored to have him part of the Falcon family."
The Sixers are familiar with former Falcons; the organization drafted former MAC DPOY Richaun Holmes 37th overall (second round) in the 2015 NBA Draft, where he went between the active roster and the Delaware 87ers from 2015-18 before an eight-year career with four other NBA organizations.
Holmes won the Greek Cup with Panathianikos this past season.
The California Classic Summer League will play July 3rd to July 6th, while the Salt Lake City Summer League competes from July 4th to July 7th. Play will continue in Las Vegas from July 9-19.
