Central Michigan adds Tennessee, Michigan to future football schedules
CMU fills two slots of their 2028 schedule, and their first slot of 2031 with the two contracts.
The Central Michigan Chippewas continue to put work in towards their future schedules signing agreements with Tennessee and Michigan, per reports from FBschedules.com.
Tennessee is expected to pay $1.3 million for CMU to travel to Knoxville on Sept. 9th, 2028. The Chippewas are 0-11 all-time against SEC opposition, with their last game against LSU (49-21) back in 2021.
This will be CMU's first-ever game against Tennessee; the Chippewas have played five current SEC members in program history.
Michigan, who is expected to pay $1.6 million per contest, scheduled two games contests with CMU.
The first game will take place on Sept. 2nd, 2028 (one week before the Tennessee contest), while the second game is tentatively scheduled for August 30th, 2031. CMU is 0-5 against the Wolverines, with the most recent contest last season seeing U of M dominate 63-3.
CMU now has three of their four future contests for 2028 filled in, with a previously-announced game at Troy filling the other spot. CMU will likely seek an FCS opponent for the last game, as they are currently scheduled for three road games to start the 2028 campaign.
As for 2031, Michigan is the first opponent CMU has scheduled.
There are still vacancies remaining over the next five years; CMU has two spots left on their 2029 calendar, one spot left on their 2030 calendar, and three spot left on their 2032 schedule.
2027 is set in stone, hosting Monmouth to start the season, then a trip to nearby Michigan State before hosting Old Dominion and traveling to Wyoming to end the out-of-conference slate.
CMU football kicks off their 2026 season at New Mexico on Sept. 9th for a nationally-broadcast late-night contest on FS1.
