Sacramento State is set to play a modern West Coast football titan two years from now, confirming an agreement to play the Oregon Ducks via press release on Friday evening.

The contest will be Sac State's first against a Big Ten opponent in program history.

The game is set to be played on September 9th, 2028 at Autzen Stadium in Eugene, Oregon. It is the first time these two teams will meet. As of publication, there is no information about how much money Sacramento State will receive for making the trip.

Sac State has been busy re-shuffling their future schedules since their promotion to the Football Bowl Subdivision as an affiliate member of the Mid-American Conference was made official in July.

The Hornets currently have five of their 12 spots for non-conference games filled out over the next three seasons. 2027 features trips to Berkley to play the California Bears and to Fargo to play the North Dakota State Bison, while 2029 will see a trip to Oregon State and a home match against FCS for Southern Utah.

Sac State has three more vacancies on their 2028 schedule to fill.

The Hornets make their debut as an FBS program on Saturday, August 29th, 2026, against the Eastern Michigan Eagles for an early-season conference matchup.
