Sacramento State schedules six-game football series with San Jose State
The Hornets and Spartans will do battle with three home contests apiece over the span of a decade.
In one of the most ambitious scheduling arrangements we've seen in awhile, the Sacramento State Hornets have finalized a six-game series with the Mountain West Confernece's San Jose State Spartans.
The news comes on the heels of the Mid-American Conference's announcement on Tuesday regarding a change to the league's future league schedule shifting from eight games to nine effective 2028.
The arrangement calls for three home games apiece for both the Hornets and Spartans starting in 2027, with the final game tentatively set for 2036.
Sacramento State will host their fellow California mid-major peer in 2027, 2034 and 2036, while San Jose State will get home games in 2030, 2032 and 2035.
Sac State's 2027 schedule, the last with four spots for non-conference games, still needs one more opponent. The Hornets have currently scheduled contests with the Cal Golden Bears and North Dakota State on the road in addition to the new game with SJSU.
2028's schedule for Sac State needs two more games, while 2029 has one vacancy.
