UMass receives votes in Week 3 Coaches Poll
The Minutemen, sitting at 3-0, get national recognition from FBS coaches.
The UMass Minutemen secured a 36-14 win over the Stonehill Skyhawks on Saturday afternoon, moving to 3-0 in the 2026 campaign and re-writing the program's record for best start to a season in their FBS era in 2011.
Now, they're receiving recognition from the FBS coaches, earning two votes in the latest edition of the College Football Coaches Poll.
The Minutemen's magical upset of Rutgers to start the season has ignited UMass' recent run of form, with the unit collecting two-straight games against FCS foes in Sacred Heart and Stonehill– something that has not always been a guarantee in Amherst in the recent past. They're in Year 2 under head coach Joe Harasymiak, with the rookie coach going 0-12 in 2025, including a loss to Bryant.
2026 has been night-and-day in comparison, with the offense and defense making significant gains in performance, sitting atop the MAC in total defense and second in the MAC in offense (behind Toledo).
They now look forward to opening up the conference season against Sacramento State at Hornet Stadium next Saturday at 9 p.m. Eastern time, aiming to move to 4-0.
